Trying to decide on a “middle ground” camera between the SL2-S and what will eventually end up being a plain M10, my mind keeps coming back to what would be a couple of retreads: the SL2 and the CL. There’s no need to rehash here for the dozenth time the limitations of the CL; although being paired with the SL2-S would help matters.
The other possibility, the SL2, was trundled off first time around through no fault of its own, but rather because of the weight of the system. While I do feel the increased weight of the SL2-S compared to an M body, the 300-800 grams of relief given by M lenses makes the setup a pleasure to carry and shoot.
But . . . would two of those bodies in the kit make a difference? Well, it’s rather unlikely that I’d carry both on any one occasion, even for travel, if ever I’m lucky enough to do that again. But other than weight, the SL2 ticks all the boxes, especially the additional relative reach, which can be realized in crop mode without those 80mb files.
Let’s rest on those thoughts for a while, though, and enjoy the existing stuff . . .
