Better Late Than Never

Six or seven years ago, sharpness and color as in the the photo posted below would have come only from an upper-tier or pro level telephoto lens costing an arm and a leg.

But the shot below is from one of the Z50 kit lenses, the all-plastic 50-250mm zoom. Yes, I’ve compared it directly to the SL 90-280mm lens. No, it’s not even close to being in the same league. But to get this kind of quality at such an accessible price—one wonders why Nikon didn’t do this six or seven years ago.

One also wonders why Nikon didn’t jump into the mirrorless market sooner, too. But, in both cases…
