Choosing carefully . . .

Barely two weeks into what’s hoped to become a successful resolution, I’ve been tempted by the TTartisan 90mm f/1.25, knowing it would be a niche lens if I were to add it to the arsenal.

Being in a place where the brand distributor has lower prices than in the ant farm was making the temptation even stronger. Until I saw that, for whatever reason, all mounts for the lens are about the same price as the M-mount. L, FE, RF, X and other mounts don’t need a rangefinder cam like the M-mount does, and they are generally 30-35% cheaper in other places and at internationally respected retailers.

Not here. I raised the question with the shop that acts as distributor, and they said they’d check with TTartisan. My own query to TTartisan via Messenger has gone without reply, indeed without even being read. I’d love to think that their pricing here is an honest oversight. But having seen many times in these parts how a taste of success fuels greed rather than fulfillment, I’m not optimistic.

And I’ve been in these parts long enough to know that no business cares what I think. So . . . still looking for a long-ish fast prime. Might be a while . . .
