Stopping at a viewpoint while driving the Overseas Highway to Key West some many years ago, I grabbed my D40X with a Sigma 10-20mm zoom attached to take some pictures.
“With this lens,” I remember thinking, “I can get the whole Gulf of Mexico in my picture!” And I did. Several shots of it, in fact. All of which consisted of two shades of blue bisected by a barely perceptible horizon line, which was curved in a couple of the shots.
In one swift lesson, I learned what an ultrawide lens is not for.
Although all of my zooms start at 24mm, I most often head out the door with a 35mm prime on my camera whenever I’m not chasing critters. Still, sometimes I like to see what I can do with a wide lens.
Anyone other than me looking forward to traveling again?
