I’m done . . .

It’ll probably surprise no one to learn that I headed out to a known critter area this afternoon with the Lumix S 70-300mm. You know, you know . . . just to see.

It didn’t take long for me to realize that unseasonably muggy weather in Cairns had been a catalyst in my avoidance of critter-chasing this past month. Today’s sultry weather was compounded by too many people and too few critters. I knew after about an hour that this hasn’t been just a break from dedicated bird photography. I’m done.

Nature photography in general? Sure, especially if I have a chance to shoot in cooler climes. And for all the negatives that raced through my mind about my choice during the past few weeks, the overwhelming reason is that I now enjoy pursuing the various genres and subject matter that I overlooked for so many years.

As Donne might have observed: not a breach, but an expansion . . .
