. . . after almost nine inches of rain (documented) yesterday here in the ant farm, f/4 seems like more of a necessity than a luxury. Same with weather-resistant bodies, camera and otherwise.
Out with the 280 in dim overcast and frequent drizzle this afternoon, my Brown-Throated Sunbird friend gave me all the time I needed to practice my focus and try f/5.6 for additional depth. As it is uncharacteristic of this little one to sit still for so long, especially with a “giant” no more than three meters away, I considered it quite a gift.
Once again, the 280 showed signs of internal flare glazing over all or parts of some of the images. The mystifying thing is that in a long sequence of images, all shot in the same general direction, some showed flare and some didn’t. At this point, though, the good images are so pleasing that I’m willing to take the mix.
Next outing, maybe time to make sure I keep the hood extended and see what happens. With other ideas as well for seeing what works and what doesn’t, maybe the process of elimination will yield some clue . . .
